All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only.

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.

April was surrendered.  She has quite a bit of anxiety.  This may be due to her instability in her housing situation.  She needs a patient home where she can decompress and learn love and trust.  April is fearful of other dogs. and owner reports she is not good with small children.

Aprils perfect home will be an experienced dog owner who understands how to establish trust and can provide consistency.  A stay-at-home or 'work-from-home' mom with NO  or older children (9+ please).

She's only 3, so no seniors please.  She seems to have a high energy level and may benefit from regular exercise/multiple walks daily.

She is FTA until spayed.  (trying to schedule that now)

Effective Immediately - Due to limited resources, we will now hold FOUND (stray) dogs for 5 days. After that, they will be eligible for ADOPTION.

Please note that we have no shelter where our rescues can be viewed. All of our dogs are in private homes being fostered until they find their forever home. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.

Please understand,

Yorkie Rescue Houston has no paid staff.  We are all volunteers.  We also have families, jobs and lives outside of rescue.  We do our best to communicate with our potential adopters, but please understand, we simply do not have the resources to contact every applicant personally.
